Wow! Just a mere 3 1/2 months after it’s conception, Among Others has been submitted as my first novel to see the light of day. I’m so excited, and, yet, I’m so scared.
I’ve written 1 other novel, but I never finished editing it and it is so terrible that I’m going to have to rewrite the entire thing. This novel, though, I’m quite excited about. Sure, there are things I would like to change, add, edit, rewrite. But every artist says that about every work they complete. Sooner or later, like parents of children reaching adulthood, we need to let them go. So I have.
By the end of February, I will know if my book made it to the 2nd Round of torture via the Amazon.com Breakthrough Novel Award. If I don’t make it that far, I’m fine with that. I will spend the coming weeks reworking some of the plotlines and tinkering with other ideas before I send my novel out for submission to traditional publishers.
